I've got a 5E3 Deluxe and the chassis gets really hot, so hot that you can't really keep you hand on it for more than 5 - 10 seconds,
It's got a 350 B+ P/T instead of the original 325v, It's a mercury magnetics P/T.
It's got a 5Y3 rectifier, JJ 6L6's.
It just gets really hot around that area, when you touch the chassis around the switches and pilot light.
I know chassis can get hot but is this normal, I read the post on the 5E3x2 but this is your normal 5E3.
