Hi all

1st of all: a happy and great sounding 2007 to all!

Right know I don't have an old Brownface Fender in my shop but I need to know about the pot-tapers from a 6G7A Bandmaster and/or 6G6B Bassman amp.

So not only lin or log but also the tapers from the log-pots (like 10% or 30-35%).

In the past Rick E. did post about blackface pot-tapers but I couldn't find anything about the brownface ones.

Many tia!

Hi Chris

Good to see you are still around. I hope all is well in your corner of the world.

According to Dave Funk's Tube Amp Workbook those early Fender pots were analog tapers & the difference between that & log taper is that analog taper were 30% instead of 10% for the log. Linear apparently meant the same then as it does now. Also according to Funk:

6G7-A:
Volumes= 1MAnalog
Trebles= 350K with a 70K tap
Basses= 250KAnalog
Speed= 4MRA (Reverse Analog)
Intensity=!0MRA
Presence=25KLinear

6G6-B:
Bass Channel
Volume= 250KL
Treble= 250KAnalog
Bass= 25KL

Normal Channel:
Volume= 1MAnalog
Trebles= 350K with a 70K tap
Basses= 250KAnalog
Presence=25KLinear

Hope this helps!
Happy 2007 to you.

Hi Philip

Thanks, so 30% for the LOGs (?).

It's pretty ok over here. Very busy with building and modding, got my 1st off. dealer. Altough I'm still building one-offs I hope to start with some small series production during this year.

Unf. I can't post as much as in the past on Ampage but it's great to see overseas amp-guys from time to time on this great forum.

Hope everythinhg's well with you!

Chris

Everything is fine here. Yes, 30% for the 'log' taper.

With all that you still seem to be able to post about twice the amount I do. Time IS scarce isn't it. Good Luck with your small series production venture.
