Hey,

Just finished a 5e3 DIY project. Stock Weber layout, home built cabinet with an Emi Texas Heat 12" speaker. Really like this thing (loud, early distortion) but I'm getting some annoying fizzle type distortion following some notes (mostly lower notes). Don't think this is mechanical as I've been probing and prodding with a stick. I've run thru an alnico speaker and it's much less noticable but I think it's just not being reproduced???

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated before I start tearing apart.

I have a Weber 5e3 kit Sig12 with the vol/tone mod that doesn't do this.

Tom

PS - I have my voltages posted.

Hey Tom;
Had the same thing with a .5 AB763/6V6. In mine I think it may have been the carbon comp resistors I used, just a guess. But after the circuit got good and burned in it went away. I chased my tail changing components, all it needed was time for the parts to get use to each other. I don't know if that will help you, but if you can give it 10 to 15 hours playing time it might disappear. It drove me crazy though.:eek:

Yes, I've used the carbon comps throughout the entire build. I was thinking exactly what you suggest just give it some time, but I'm so impatient!!! If I can get this to go away I will really be very, very happy with this build.

Thanks!

Like I said it drove me STARK RAVING !@#$%^& MAD. I hope it works out. If you have some cheap tubes leave it runnig all night....off "Standby".

Your Welcome

I'm going to go beat on it right now and then leave it on! My tubes are generally very cheap, but I guess that's another thread altogether?

Thanks again!
