I want to modify my super champ with an output jack instead of the hard-wired speaker wire right to the speaker so I can use an attenuator, external speaker cab, etc.
How do I do this without grounding out to the chassis? My intuition tells me to use a switchcraft stereo jack, but I'm not sure.

The black speaker wire is already at chassis ground potential so the proper installation of a mono Switchcraft jack will not "ground out" the speaker. One issue could be the creation of a ground loop. However, IMHO I don't believe that would be a problem in the Super Champ. I would use a Switchcraft 12A shorting jack and reference a BF Fender wiring diagram as a guide if you need it. If you are really concerned about grounding to the chassis at the speaker jack then you could use a Switchcraft L12A jack and mount it with fiber shoulder washers.

Thanks for the reply. I suspected one of the leads went to ground but I didn't have a meter to check.
