Im trying to work on a studio mate combo--ygm4. I cant get the chassis out of the case! it cant slide back, and the screws for the front panel are blocked by the trans. Anyone ever work on one of these amps ? how the hell does it come apart ????

IIRC, early 1970's Studio Mates have a "flip top". Removing the top 4 bolts enables access to the circuitry so that the chassis need not be removed. If you need to pull the chassis, remove the 4 side bolts (2 on each side), and the 4 top bolts.
