Would it make any sense - for safety's sake - to add 1 meg bleeder resistors across the power supply filter caps?

Well, 390K to 470K would be a bit better - small enough to drain in a few seconds, big enough not to add significant static load.
In general, bleeders on the first filter cap are a GOOD thing. Just remember to flip the standby switch to PLAY mode to drain the preamp filters, too.
