I've been toying with the idea of making *all tube* effects that aren't the usual twin 12AX7 overdrive, tube spring reverb etc. but rather octave dividers, modulators, oscillators etc. noisy sh*t...

Although i've figured tube diodes could be used for octave up (a la octavia, FW rectifier) or a simple ring modulator, i've been twisting my brain to come up with a octave down circuit. Then i stumbled upon the 'Eccles-Jordan trigger circuit' which, it seems, is an old RS-flip flop. I know a D-flip flop is used in the mxr blue box and boss oc-2, so i was hoping i could adapt the Eccles-Jordan to the same purpose. However, i'm really not seeing how to implement it. here is a schematic of two 6SL7 RS-flip flops. Any of you have any ideas?

Or maybe this is a better circuit...
