In the pic provided I was wondering if the two 220uf 300v ps caps are too close to the var resistors? I got rid of the "doghouse" underneath the chassis. On the new turret board I also have the rectifiers and the bias. Are there any problems that anyone can forsee?
I am going to build a 4 gain stager and a seperate 2 or 3 stage clean channel. The clean will be kept in the Fender vein but I am not sure about the hi gain channel. I was thinking of something in the SLO category since pretty much every amp out today is based on the SLO and I am digging the sound and note definition. The problem may be that I plan on keeping this chassis in its original 2x12 combo. Werent the first Mark's(the original hi-gainers) by M/B based on these Fenders?
Anyway, I would love possible lead channel options that would meld well with this pt/ot.

You have plenty of space between them, although the only real way to tell is by trying it.
Is this a twin chassis?

I also wonder about the 220µF caps, which are much larger than what's usually used on Fenders.

I count 11 electrolytic caps and a choke on the Shinrock SLO-100 schematic. It uses six 200µ caps. All of those caps make the power supply incredibly stiff and lowers the AC ripple, which means that hum is a considerable problem because of the large number of preamp gain stages (5 or 6, with 2 being cascodes).

That's not true at all!!

Vox AC15/30 and Matchless Spitfires are based on one gain stage into a LTP.
I'd consider a Trainwreck, since it was based on Fender amps.

IMHO, Tone and note definition comes from careful selection of components and fine tuning the amp. Coupling caps and cathode bypass caps have a lot to do with that.
