replacing a pot with fixed resistors (help)...

Ok, so I'm having a bit trouble getting my head round this. I've got a sweet spot on the gain pot of one of my amps and want to replace the pot with fixed resistors.

I've measured between the 'top' of the pot and the wiper with a reading of 120k. Between the wiper and ground I get 975k.

Does this mean I can replace the pot at this setting with a 120k resistor 'in line' and a 975k resistor from the other end of the 120k to ground? In other words, like below...

Assuming you made those measurements with the pot not connected to the rest of the circuit.

doh!!! - of course. I'll desolder the two wires connecting to the pot and do it again.
