Howdy-
Anybody know where I can order concentric independant pots? I've looked around the usual places like Mouser and Digikey. No problem finding "ganged" pots but not concentric, independent control. I would like to set up my BF Fender with a "mid" control as a center pot and "bass" as the outer. Would need knobs for this too.

Thanks for any ideas,

Allen

The only generally available dual concentric is a dual 500k audio which is used on early Fender Jazz basses. You can get them from Stewart-MacDonald and Warmoth. I'd happliy pay $20 a pop if I could find some amp-worthy dual 1M audio's.

Such pots are always made to order for the company that uses them. About the only way you will find them is to find them in some product and order a "replacement" for it from them. Maybe some dead car radios might have something you could use.

Hmmm... so are you folks saying that I could get just any 24mm independent concentric stacked pot and then change out the carbon trace for the desired values? (250K-A bass and 10K-A for mid control) Anybody done this?

Allen,

If you'd be willing to do bass/treble instead of mid/bass, the CP2 pots at this link could be paralleled with a 470K resistor and would work, @ $10 each (knobs are extra):

http://www.warmoth.com/hardware/parts/parts.cfm?fuseaction=include_potentiometers

wdmusicproducts.com has them with knobs, @ $36 each.

Here's a thought....you could wire it up with a Dumblesque tone stack then you could use the 250k audio pots for both the bass and midrange. might need to tweak the cap values a little to get the same response.

It might take a few minutes of tinkering with Duncan's TSC, but I don't see why you couldn't adapt almost any stack to use 500k pots instead of 1Ms...It's for the ef-86 preamp in my 18Watt. That can't take much of a load. A guy who's name escapes me (Don Jones?) used a CTS d-c 1M in JTM-45 to add a master in a volume hole. I'm not sure where he got it.
