Hey guys..I'm fixing to put some fabric on my head I'm building but I don't know what to go with. I have a cheesy Marshall avt50 head and I love the sturdy and rough looks of the black tolex BUT how did they get it so tight on there? Any tips from the pros?? Post some of your favorite fabrics if you got any as well!!

I use Weldbond (see www.weldbond.com). It doesn't show up through the fabric but makes an incredible bond to the timber. You got to apply the glue quickly and coat it throughly and evenly using a piece of flat-sided dressed timber so there are no gaps in teh glue, and then put the fabric in without stretching it too much and then run your glueless hand over the fabric to smooth it down and get the bubbles out. Work from the centre to the outside and then glue the edges and glues and staple the backside edges.

One thing I use that has made my life easier, is a six inch piece of a broom handle with one end rounded. I use it to smooth out large areas, and roll out bumps, and round over corners. For inside corners a piece of scrap about 1/2" by 3/4 by 4" works good to get it up tight in there.
