Wasn't sure whether to put this in "tubes" or this section of the forum but since the design opportunities are what attracted me here it is. Found the tube in the RCA tube manual and there are three triodes with a 2 watt plate dissipation and a mu of 57. Now one triode is "independent" while the other two share a common cathode which is also common with one of the heater connections - which might argue for DC heaters. Still having three triodes in such a small package provides lots of circuit options - add a 6GW8 and you could have a SE amp with tremelo and reverb with two 9 pin tubes.
Now I'm going to have to go through the "TV" tubes boxes in the attic and see if I've got any.

Sounds like an interesting project for sure! The only thing is if the tubes are too hard to find (or expensive), only having two tubes loses some of it's benefit.

Could be a good point - so I just checked AES and they're all of $3.00 (US) each - so a "lifetime supply" for a particular project is less than a couple of average fast food meals in the states.
