How safe it is using one of these attenuators?
Anybody?

Not sure about the higher wattage ones he builds, but I'm betting the small one is just like my Ampwell House Attenuator (http://www.regiscoyne.com/ampwell/)I built using an L-Pad from Parts Express. The AHA is good for up to about 25-30 watts rms.

I've also built one with the dual ganged 8 ohm L-Pad that can be switched between 4 and 8 ohms.

As long as you don't exceed the attenuators wattage rating it will be safe. Be aware that driving your amp hard like that will wear out tubes faster.
