Nnew transformer for my MXR M-118?

A while back I bought a vintage MXR M-118 analog delay pedal that was made for the US market. Since I live in Sweden, and we have different voltage(230V) coming through the socket, my plan was to change the transformer of the pedal to avoid extra paraphernalia when using the pedal.

But my electronics knowledege is rudimentary at best, thus I need some help identify the proper values to look for in my new transformer.

Some resources for you:
Schematic: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...nalogdelay.png
Images of the pedal: Image 1, Image 2, Image 3
Respone I got from Dunlop:

Quote:

The voltage needs to be dropped down to 15v and the 310L12 voltage regulator will drop it to 12v.

After asking on a local forum I got some vague suggestions but nothing exact. The closest was a transformer with these values:

Code:

Effect: 0.5 VA
Primary: 230 VAC, 50...60 Hz
Secondary(auxiliary?): 12(2x) VAC

So, any suggestions are welcome, and thanks in advance guys.

This is a problem I've never seen before.

This is a reissue Deluxe Memory Man with (2) MN3005. The problem is a very loud whine on the output of the first BBD, not the normal noise you get and null with the Balance trim, but a really loud annoying sound. To add to that, the signal on the output of the BBD sounds very distorted, almost ring-modulated. Replaced the 4558 and 4047 in the oscillator circuit and tried swapping out the BBD. No change.

Anyone else encounter this before or have any suggestions? Schematic is attached. It shows 4 MN3008, but it's the same circuitry as the one I'm working on.

Hey,
I'm in the process of using a schematic for the original tubescreamer to build my own variation, http://www.schematicx.com/view-schem...pro-schematic/
When I put in my Op amp, how can I tell (by looking at the chip itself) which of the 8 leads is what (4 on each side)? This schematic breaks the IC down by the two sides as two triangles, does it matter what lead connects to what?. also, when a resistor says 4k7 (R6,23) what exactly is the value? Im guessing V+ means a sort of "common" path that,s positive.....and does Vr mean variable resistor, i thought the symbol was an arrow to a resistor. Lastly R19 says 500k log.... what? Any help would be appreciated, I'm very knew to circuit stuff and just want to know how to connect the dots.

hi everyone !

if somebody has some knowledge and experience abour such problem on an echoplex, i'd be glad to know it ; )

i'm writting while i'm reading the maintenance manual of the echoplex 3, so i can tell properly the issues :

- first they talk about hiss , that can be adjusted with the volume on 1 and 9, that would be the same thanks to the record level control.

my echoplex isn't loaded with a tape right now, but i'm testing, and on the echo position, well, anyway, quite a lot of hiss on position 8 ( because on 9, the pot doesn't work ), and in the sos position, a bassy hiss all the time. no effect from the record level pot.

at this point, i don't know if i may change some caps, and what caps, if it's the problem. but i don't know what caps i should change. i assume i'm on a 110 volts, 60 hz power. no tape right now. the echoplex has been cleaned. the belt is new. the pressure pad could be replaced but still ok. the black roller could be replaced but still really ok. i've restored the rail, much more straight now.

- now the heads : i've realigned them, but the little square of the middle of the playback head seems to have expanded itself a bit. it works, but since i've realigned the heads, i may have force a bit too much, and the trebly shimering pitch bending of the echo is a bit lost into the frequencys repeated. i'm sad about that.
it's strange, if i move a little bit the playback head, it goes into another shimering tone, more bassy and bassyer, opposite of trebly i mean. don't know what to do.

i think i did a terrible mistake, i couldn't wait to get a demagnetizer, and i was thinking of using a big magnet close to it, to see what would happend .......
it works, but maybe not at its best, i don't know, and i'm not sure that the magnet damaged it. when i realigned heads, it was ok, but one more movement on the head, and perhaps on the CONNECTION of the head, and the shimmering disapeared quite a lot.

i've ordered some quantegy 478 tape, i think it's not as good as a fidelipac lubricated tape, but i could perhaps use it for a little while.
tha tape i've got now get stuck into the combo head sometimes, i don't know why. and it brings the moving head to the playback head when it's blocked.

i'd really like to restore this machine, cause i think it's possible, there's no reason why it would be impossible. except perhaps that i couldn't spend too much money.

thanks for any help !
Best,
Adrien

I have an ampeg a-6 chorus in mint cosmetic condition.

A very unabused pedal.

The effect does not come on when switched (led on).

Nothing looks cooked inside. It's very clean. the switch is a delicate looking mechanism, but it does turn on and off ok.

I tried it with power and batt.

same experience both ways.

Any info- advice- similar experiences?

- know what it is right away???

also there are two outputs on this one... a 'direct out' and 'out'. (seems there were more than one version- so a heads up- this one has a direct out also)

Hello All,

I'm new here and thought I would jump right in. I am looking to get a new set of effects, meaning a new rack or pedal board. I had a Digitech GNX4 and while a very good effects system, its had always just sounded a little flat and brittle. So at the moment I am in sound limbo, and am finding it hard to make a decision.
I play through a Marshall solid state combo, a Epiphone Les Paul Custom and Jackson Soloist Custom. The guitarist's sound I try and emulate are Randy Rhoads, Tony Iommi, George Lynch, Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington and some 80's bands. The effects pedal boards I have looked at but have not been able to play through are the Line 6 Pod x3 Live/Pro, Digitech Rp500/1000, Rocktron G300 to name a few. I have a budget of $600 to spend and would appreciate some recommendations.
I have used Line 6 equipemnt before (a Vetta head) and it was pretty reliable and easy to use. I played through a Line 6 Pod x3 and the jury is still out on this unit. I has a different interface than what the Vetta had.
Again, thanks for listening.
