  • Jazz chorus output trannies dead

I have a Roland Jazz Chorus which is great apart from all 4 o/p transistors are blown. I am finding it really hard to find a good equivalent to them they are
2SD736A..they have a small Aluminium heat sink as part of the transistor .
Can anyone help ? I have found one place in the US with a few of the originals but they are astonomical in price.......time to throw the amp away or what ? I am in the U.K.

I got this entry from a googling:

Discrete Transistor Characteristics - 2SD Numbers
    2SD734, NPN Si, SS, trans. 20V, 700mA, 650mW, 60-560, ~250 MHz, TO92 SC43 2003A. 2SD736A, NPN Si, power, trans. 160V, 12A, 100W, 60-200, -25 MHz ...
    http://www.classiccmp.org/rtellason/...stors-2sd.html - 277k - Cached - Similar pages

If correct, that should be enough to find a parametrically acceptable sub. The package drawing I saw was a bit funky - sort of a TO-220 with wings (left and right) rather than a tab. That might be hard to cross.

The link didn't load for me, FWIW.

Sanken 2SC2921 The mounting holes line up with the "batwing" Hitachi.
You will only need longer mounting bolts as they are thicker.
      Beware of counterfeits...

although its the 2922 that got forged.
Oh and you will need new mica washers too
      Good luck !

I have had good luck so far with B&D Enterprises for my Sankens. www.bdent.com

I have also so far gotten real Sankens through MCM. www.mcminone.com

Look up the datasheets and compare them.

Looks like a good sub to me then.

Looks like the 2922 is a better performer generally from what I can tell from the figures...there are several options available which I think are gain choices...
the 2SC2922Yis the easiest to get hold of and seems to cover the 2921's gain range..but then again ,what do I know !! I think it's time to bite the bullet and buy some devices.
Many thanks again to you all for taking time to help out .
