I recently acquired a kramer pacer with a seymour duncan invader in the bridge. When it arrived it was set high and it was powerful and crisp, I was pleased with it.
To make a long story short, a guitar tech lowered the pickup, and then in attempting to raise it again I stripped the screw on the low-e side. Since then, I stuck an allen key inside the middle of the pickup to push it up and prop it up against the pickup ring, so it would be set high again, and left it there.
Unfortunately, since then the pickup seems to have lost a lot of power on that side, where it was once clear and defined it's now middy/bassy and has no definition or power on palm mutes. The other side is fine though.
Could the metal allen key somehow have damaged the magnets or done something else to cause this? If so is there any way to fix it?
