  • No holes baseplate

Anybody make a no-holes baseplate for humbuckers?

  • #2
    You can make them yourself...

It is pretty easy to cut and bend using a hand brake.

I am sure that is not the answer you are looking for, but sometimes it is the best option.

I was about to make the same thread, but I will just bump this one instead, since it's been 7 years. I'm in desperate need of the same kind of baseplate for my all slug humbuckers. If any one of you good people could point me out to a right direction, it would be much appreciated!
      Cheers!

        Here's the dimensions.
No larger than a baseplate is, use a vise, mallet, & flat pliers.

I just ordered some 22 gauge nickel silver sheet online, along with a pair of 6 inch sheet metal "seaming" pliers to try to make my own baseplates for angled humbuckers (multi-scale guitars). For my purposes, the only holes I will need to drill will be for the lead wire and those for securing the bobbins.

How do you drill the threaded mounting holes?

Thank you for the diagram, this is very handy. It would probably take me forever to cut and bend those. Another idea I came up with last night, was to get ahold of short truss head screws and secure them to the bottom of the PU with some locktite, just for the aesthetics. I really wish mojo supplied no hole baseplates.

What are you going to use to cut out the shape? Please keep us updated.

All of my work is sort of as-needed, on-demand. Although I'm trying to standardize my designs, the guitar and all of its parts get built as one package. At this point, I'd rather avoid having an "inventory." Thanks!

Good question. I'm going to try building a simple sheet metal guillotine with some old 6" jointer blades. If that doesn't work, I'll just buy one.

Something like this would work just fine.

Yep, that's the unit I'm looking at if my DIY attempt doesn't cut it (see what I did there?).
