they are 3/8 -32 thread
the 15/32 -32 is for switches like in the picture i posted.
I've only recently gotten back into electronics, but back in the day I remember most jack came with 2 hex nuts a knurled beauty nut a beauty washer and a toothed lock washer.
I couldn't beleive last time I ordered a bunch of switchcraft 12A's that hardware was sold seperatly!
no kidding I paid as much for hardware as I did for the jacks!!!!
well any how, I came across a conn organ recently and it had carter jacks with the beauty nuts, I just havent expected it would be so hard to locate them new.
Your photo shows a knurled ring nut alright, but it is on a switch. Switches and pots have different size threads. KNurled switch-sized ring nuts are common, but I have never seen ring nuts to fit jacks. Jacks are standard 3/8" threads. Not saying they don;t make them, just never seen one, but clearly listed in the Switchcraft there.
You would also want to conside how you are going to tighten then without marring their "beauty." They require a special driver to do it right.
In all my years I have found them to be a total pain in the ass. When I buy a toggle switch I usually get a hex nut and a knurled ring. I always put the ring behind the panel and the hex nut out front so I can tighten the thing. But those are just my own preferences.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
Ok, going back to middle school here...am I the only one who smirks when I see the title of this discussion?
Agreed with Enzo. I frickin hate those things. How do you tighten them without ruining them or worse yet, scratching up your faceplate? I sure haven't figured it out yet. My best attempts have involved a pair of vice grips set to stun, but even then they end up making an oval out of the once-round nut.
Ok, my middle school self just popped back in to snicker at *my* last sentence.
