I have a PV3x head that drops out in volume like crazy. If I give a "Fonzy" tap, (like the jukebox) it comes right back in as loud as it was. I am hitting the top of the amp right above the power and stand by switch. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I love this amp but I am getting truly frustrated.

There's a loose connection in there somewhere - could be a bad solder joint, could be a loose tube socket pin, could be a dirty FX loop jack.
Try first - a short, known-good patch cable from FX send to FX return. If that does it, unplug and replug a few times to make the contacts rub the scunge off.
Going on from there requires knowing your comfort level and experience poking around inside tube amps.
You do know they contain genuinely lethal voltages.
