  • Peavey duel 212 and rectoverb problem

I have always loved the sound of this amp so I decided to upgrade the tubes and speakers from stock. I got the recommended tubes from eurotubes and a set of GT12-75 speakers for it.

Now my lead channel has lost it's balls.

The clean channel works as it should but when I switch to the lead channel the volume drastically drops and as if it's not feeding the power amp enough signal or something? When I adjust the lead channel knobs I can hear them all having their effect but the signal never gets strong even turning both pre and post gains to maximum. I've tried switch back tubes and speakers but I can't get it to work properly. What have I done to my amp?

I also have another amp that has recently quit working right.
It's my mesa boogie rectoverb. I didn't use it for about a year and now it to has lost it's punch. When I turn up the gain it starts to "clip". I'm really bummed about this one.

Check the voltages at the pre amp tubes. Sounds like a screen res gone bad.

Check the phase of the speaker wiring, if you have them reversed you will loose volume. Also, check for tube socket corrosion.

And try putting the old tubes back in, one of your new ones could be bum.
