  • 44 awg plain enamel.

Hey, does anyone know a place I can get some 44 PE? perferably min-nom. Im not really picky about the brand. Looking for 1-10lbs worth. Any brand is fine

I've got some that I bought from Rickenbacker's online store last year. I've got five two pound spools, and I could let four of them go if you wanted them? I'd sell them for market value though....

If you're happy to ship into the country you may like to try Scientific Wire Company of London. Speak to Ray as he does actually know what you're talking about.

I called MWS .. Nice company. They only carry 42 and 43. The guy told me fender buys 30-40,000lbs a year of the stuf..

Can you imagine? At $32.50/lbs thats $1,300,000 a year in wire.

          Great scott!

I have a feeling it would be too cost prohibitive, I will however check them out. Thanks spence.

Oops I misread the post, you want PE 44. Rickenbacker occasionally sells tiny rolls on Ebay, have no clue where they get it. Never seen that guage in a vintage pickup before, its always been 44 gauge formvar. You CAN find that through Elektrisola, I have a 13lb. roll of it, probably last me the rest of my life

I bet they don't pay anything like $32.50 a pound, given their purchase volume, but still that's a lot of pickups.

Why not use 44 AWG poly? I can't imagine it would make a difference in single build, or is PE thicker? Then get 44H.

I have a roll of 45H I picked up on eBay.

They obviously changed their thinking about using 42 guage heavy formvar for their single coils - or is that just for their humbucker guitars!

I'm doing some checking on pricing. I want to sell the spools for a fair price, but I don't want to give them away either! But so far 3 people have messaged me, and I will see what I can find out about pricing, and get back to all of you soon. Thanks,

                        Greg

Ok, I did some price checking, and for the 4 people, who PM'd me, I've replied. I will sell 4 spools as I said. Two of them are completely full, and the other two are slightly used a bit...say 8/10 is still there. So the two with the lesser amounts of wire will sell for a lower price. The first PM will get first dibs, and so forth. I have no idea about min-nom and all of that...but all the wire is 44 PE that Rickenbacker sold on ebay in the last couple years. I have no idea who made it either, but Possum wound a RIC toaster pickup for me off the spool I'm keeping and the wire was fine. I haven't tried the pickup yet so don't ask me how it sounds....

ok, two PM's sent. Looks like the full spools are spoken for...the other two are still available as of now.
