  • Marshall AVT150 problems

I have a Marshall AVT 150 combo amp which I have owned for several years. I recently experienced some problems with it, when switched to either of the two overdrive channels no sound comes through the speaker. Clean and acoustic both work fine, but no distortion whatsoever. Is it completely done?

Probably a bad op amp IC in the preamp.

Sounds like something a technician would have to work on. Any idea how expensive of a fix that might be? I'm hopefully trying to sell the amp, if it's in the neighborhood of a hundred bucks...

Depends on whether the op-amps are in easy replaceable sockets or soldered into the main board. If they are soldered in then the whole board has to come out and that is time and time is money.

I believe that is caused by a bad U8 on the preamp board (If I remember correctly a SIP 4558). An hour's labor and $8-10 for the part typical.
