correct speaker for a Bandit

The question may sound stupid, but I want to do it right.
I have a Bandit Solo Series Special 112 for repair and the speaker is blown.
The burnt speaker is a Scorpion.
How many watts can give this amp? Is it 80 watt on 8 ohm?
So, which speaker should I use then? 12" 8 ohm 75 watts? Will it blow that?

It should say on the rear panel. Typically it will include the voltage, so it might say 80 watts into 8 ohms, 25VRMS, or something similar.

If it burnt up the Scorpion, the power amp section may have failed. The Scorpion is a good solid speaker, and should be good for at least 150 watts of not more.

The easiest thing to do is repair the Scorpion. You can buy a replacement basket for it from Peavey - costs about half what a whole speaker costs. Unbolt the magnet from the old speaker, clean the gap with tape, and bolt the magnet on the new basket. Now you have a new Scorpion.

Peavey can tell you which basket you need. There should be a label on your existing basket. They have numbers like: S12825. That means Scorpion, 12", 8 ohms. There may be more variants these days, but the parts folks there will know.

Yes it is there. It says 160W RMS, 25.3V RMS, 4 OHM.
So 80W in to 8 ohm, is it?

The rest of the amp is now ok, it is the same one I asked about the protection braker in line with the speaker output being too sensitive whe tapping on it.

Yes it is the speaker coil. Not really burnt though it looks toasted in colour, but the coil assembly become unglued and although I reglued it it sounds very distorted. Playing through an external cab the amp sounds ok.

Thanks for the guide in repairing the Scorpion. I will try to give a second chance to this speaker.
