  • Visual sound amazing story(well to me, at least)

I wrote this at harmony central a minute ago but couldn't help my self pasting a bit of it here!

I'll try to make this as short as possible but I couldn't let a story like this go unnoticed :-)
A friend of mine bought me Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde and H2O V2 when he was in USA.
I live way across the planet and here in europe they are much more expensive!
So when he brought them I had no bill, no warranty - nothing, but I couldn't care less!!!
I had the sound I wanted and that was all that mattered!
Then I realized I have a broken chorus (when I got with my band and turned the amp loud I heard a bad noise coming out of the chorus side of the H2O).
I emailed Visual Sound and they wanted me to take a few pictures of the pcb.
When I sent those they said "We'll send you a replacement circuit board and instructions on how to install it".
    And I was like -
Wait a minute ...withouth any proof I have a new pedal with waranty that isn't expired?
    I don't believe this!!!
Ok but I wanted to know how much will it cost me?
Do I get to pay the pcb? Postal expenses? Customs?
Two weeks latter - I get a package at my home address, guy shows up says " are you mr ...?" I say - "yes I am", he gives me this package says "good day to you sir" and turns around and walks away...
Again I'm like...what is this? Candid camera?
I open up the package and there it was - A BRAND NEW replacement circuit board with instructions?
And i payd a totall of zero $!!!!!!!!!!!
    UBELIEVABLE!!!
I tell this story to my friends and they are like "yeah yeah...and what happend when you woke up?"
    But it's true!!!

Not to mention I like the sound of it a lot!!!
    A gigging musician's dream!!!
If you can be sure to check them out!
    Cheers

I've had similar results with them. I bought a used, broken Route 66 pedal on the cheap and when I called them to buy a replacement pot they shipped me a new one free of charge. Amazing customer service.

The guys at VS are great. Dave at DLS sent me a pot for a 7 YO chorus at no charge, too. There are definitely advantages to buying from the "little guys".

I had the pleasure of being taken out for lunch by VS owner Bob Weil and being shown around their HQ in September. Even if I was the one paying for lunch, I'd still have to say they're a great bunch of people there. Bob's mother and brother work there, but the sense of family extends beyond them. Very open spirit, too.

One of the things they dedicate themselves too is consistent performance and reliabiilty (the thnking that went into the design of the footswitches in their V2 series pedals is a shining example of that), and I get the sense that they treat it almost as a personal failing when one of their pedals breaks down. So it's no big surprise to me that you got the response you did.

Now, having said that, VS is not exactly a huge corporation. HQ occupies a space similar to what you'd see in a local insurance broker: a dozen or so offices in a 2-storey unit of an industrial strip mall (manufacturing facilities overseas is another story). Is it possible that it might be a struggle to maintain that same level of personal and personable service should they eventually get huge? Maybe, but for the moment they run the ship exactly the way you or I would hope the ship is run everywhere, from Boss and Yamaha down to the smallest boutiquer.

I guess that I never realized that they were "the little guys". I've seen their stuff and their ads and I just figured that they were a big company. I had the chance to speak with one of their folks at the Austin Guitar Show and he was very friendly and very enthusiastic about their products.
