  • mesa boogie 3 channel triple rectifier switching channels by itself , other noise

Im having my footswitch looked at as we speak but im just wondering if anybody else had this problem .
The footswitch is the Bigfoot switch and the cable is brand new so thats not the problem. But when im playing it will switch back and forth between green and orange channels by itself sometimes, accompanied with some noises.

I noticed even with the switch being out for repair, its still making a scratchy sound sometimes .

If no problem is seen in the footswitch, what problem in the amp could be causing this???? Could it be one of the tubes(i dont know much about these things)

    Any help would be appreciated

Spray a little Deoxit D5 in the footswitch jack, see if that helps.

And don;t convince yourself something CAN'T be bad because it is new. never think up reasons NOT to check something.

guys, also i forgot to mention one other thing about this amp.....

the presence knob on the orange channel seems to be "reversed" (turning it to 7 oclock (all the way counterclockwise) turns the presence all the way up and turning it to 5 oclock(all the way clockwise )turns the presence all the way off ......what makes that happen (every other knob on every other channel is opposite of this)

Im a factory service tech for Mesa, i have had small capacitors go bad on the plate circuits before and cause this anoying pop and crackle intermittantly. I had to use a heat gun for SMD rework to find the part. Or you could have a failing preamp tube. For some reason mesa sometimes uses the shield connection of their footswitches as the only ground out to the pedal. There is a DIN jack in the pedal and you should see a little wiper arm that touches the shield as you plug in the connector, i would check there for back contact. If you loose ground between the pedal and amp, it can switch channels on its own.

                Good Luck -Eric

I have a similar issue: a couple of days ago my Triple Recto, after 15 minutes of normal working, starts to buzz and then the sound and the channel light on the front panel disappears for a moment.

If I switch channel from the back panel, the lights on the footswitch are lighter but not off.

                  Here's a video of the issue: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1vf...grasUNIBKE4K-P

Do you think it's the same problem?
