Hey all... i've landed this one here really cheap. Apparently the last guy it belonged to tried to have it fixed by a few people who took shots at guessing what was wrong with it. There looks to be a modification. Basically, you turn it on and it sounds like a ring modulator. The notes being played sound like 4 different notes coming out of the speaker... Tubes check ok, pots are all cleaned. Some iffy joints on the board I plan on going over. Is the obvious answer going to be cap job?? Also if anyone has a schematic so I can attempt to reverse the modifications... i can't seem to find one anywhere.

G100T Schematic
Here is the schematic.
I would try see if the noise (oscillation) is coming from somewhere else other than worn filter caps before deciding to replace them, unless you plan on doing that anyway.
These amps commonly had problems like that when new, usually caused by bad solder joints.

well soldered up whatever looked laxed. still got the same result. I decided to put a cable from the effects loop out into another amp, the sound when using the amp just as a preamp was pristine clear and completely. So that about narrows it down to something in a later stage of the amp, which you know.... is just wonderful!!!!

'it sounds like a ring modulator'
This is most always a cap problem, usually the 1st reservoir cap or solder joints to it. Try measuring the ac ripple voltage (both when the amp is putting out no signal and a big signal) on the B+ at the various nodes (A,B,C & D on p3 above) to confirm this.My band:- http://www.youtube.com/user/RedwingBand
