suggestions on cleaning up channel 1 on a marshall 6100lm

I have a marshall 6100 thay has a muddy sounding clean channel.Changing tubes did not help.I have the bass knob rolled all the way off to get any kind of clean.Also the volume is at 7 to get any decent volume out of the clean channel.Any suggestions would be very helpfull.
