Question about marshall class 5

I want marshall’s overall better sound since I don’t just like metal but if the marshall class 5 is hooked up with a metal pedal will it sound better than an HT5 since it is a better sounding amp? This is an ht-5 demo: YouTube - Blackstar HT-5 Demo it sounds really good with a tube screamer. Also what is better for metal, a tube screamer overdrive pedal or a metal distortion pedal? But i guess there is the volume to consider since you want the pedal to go into a relatively clean amp. At stage volume, the class 5 is fully saturated...

I am a guitar noob. No store around me have this in stock right now so i can't test how loud or what it sounds like. Because of the lack of master volume it worries me that this amp might be too loud for apartment practice. What about using an eq pedal volume control to control the overall volume? Or is that more controlling the tonal variant? And will a cheap eq pedal mess up the awesome sound of the marshall? I guess I can practice with a headphone with volume control. I thought tube sounds best at high volume. Wouldn’t the clean sound bad at a low volume? Since there is only 1 volume control and the higher you dial the volume the heavier the amp sounds (I am confused, isn’t this working more like a gain knob? So the marshall is set on a default volume setting?) I don’t know if you understand my question. Also how do i delete a thread? i don't see delete under edit in my thread.

Personally, i tried the stage 5 and found it kinda "meh."

Every amp company is jumping into the low wattage game now, and every one i've tried is pretty generic. I had a tiny terror, i tried a night train a few times, the class 5, the Voc ac4 mini Fender Champion and a few valve juniors, The new one from Traynor looks interesting, but it isn't in the market just yet. I had a Mini z for a while, it was fun, but not much different than anyone else's

Mini amps tend to give you a ratty natural "overdrive" when you push them (power tube distortion) its nice if that is the sound you are looking for, but clean headroom is at a minimum (Especially on the Class 5)

Try a few of them, they are fun little amps, but your drummer would have to be very Controlled to have one of the put out "gig" voume. Maybe the Tiny Terror, but the little 5 watt jobies won't cut it. Unless youa re miking your cab, then who cares how loud your amp is?!

AS to pedals, a tube screamer is a good choice to push an amp a little harder, adn get the tubes "screaming" and that is a very 80's sort of tone. Usually the amp is already breaking up, and you hit it to make it go a little harder. A metal pedal pretty much brite forces your guitar to sound like the pedal. and really only work well into clean amps.

I built a blackface champ circuit into my 5f1 chassis, its a little cramped, but sounds great. and i can play clean!

Do you need an amp just for domestic sound levels, or to play with a drummer?
Because 5 watts into a 12" speaker, if maxxed, could be get you evicted from your apartment, whereas it would be lost against a drummer.
All volume controls are gain controls, though they tend to get called different names according to where they are in the signal chain.
A simple amp might only have 1 channel with gain(=volume) control, others might have 2 gain controls or more on each channel.
