  • How do i determine the OT i need?

I was considering a new OT for my classic 30 after reading of someone who did this and raved about the omprovment. The MM that will work according to Paul over there is what he used and it's a vox tranny i think. But not wanting to pay $225 for a tranny that may or may not improve the amp, i decided to look at Heyboer instead since they are far less expensive. However, upon emailing them i got a reply saying they aren't familiar with my amp so they couldn't recommend a perticular model.

Can anyone tell me what exactly i need to ask for? A vox AC30 i OT assume would work, but on the other hand there may be differences i don't know about. I looked at thier site but it doesn't have any info other than a contact number and general info about the company.

For good results, you'll want around 3600-4200 ohms at 35-50 watts with a 4, 8 and maybe a 16 ohm secondary.

Ask them what output transformer do they make for MOJO that is similar and buy a retail one for less then $100.00
Or email MOJO with the same question.
A multi tap reissue Super Reverb OT comes to mind.
A smallish 50 watt Marshall OT at 3200-3400 ohms would work too and even though the Super Reverb OT is a little higher Zed then what Matchless would use with four EL84s, I bet it would work great anyhow.

I emailed them with the specs in your 1st post and told them i only need 16/8 and they quoted me $90 to make one. I think thats very reasonable so i'm going with that. They just wanna know about physical space so i'm going to take some measurments this weekend and let them know how much room i have. I just hope theres enough because i have a 12L in it. By the way, when you say 3600-4200 ohms at 35-50 watts, should i be more specific since i want the most aggressive tone i can get from it? Thanks Bruce.
