  • Fatar Studio Logic 2001 Keyboard

I have a fatar keyboard and the internal battery went dead. I replaced the battery & have found that the memory on the keyboard must have lost even the basic operating system so now it will not allow me to do any setup on the keyboard. Does anyone have any expierence with this problem? Please help I really don't want to have to junk this keyboard if I don't have to.
    Thanks
    Chuck

    You've probably already done this, but if not I suggest you perform a hard reset on the Studio 2001. To do this;
    Press EDIT
Select MEMORY USED (function #1 twice)
Use slider #4 to choose 'Erase All'
    Press the Alpha button
Press the EDIT button to exit

Here is a link to the manual if you need it.

The OS on the ST2001 is stored in an EPROM (latest version was 2.1). It is highly unlikely it has been erased, and you probably have a different issue there, possibly a power supply problem or cold solder joints. The ST2001 had issues with both of those areas, and more. Check your battery replacement work.

I guess what I need are the factory setup for the presets. I found them on a fatar site but I can not find a pcmcia edge connector card to load them on or a way to do this.

Do you have a MIDI interface on your computer? The manual says you can do a sysex dump through MIDI, and if you can download the data from their web site, that ought to do it.

Just a word to the wise: Fatar/Studiologic is now the domain of American Music and Sound. The ST2001 dates back to '93 production when Fatar was distributed by Music Industries Corp. (where I was the service manager and tech), and it is unlikely you will get any support for it. The last place that supported these keyboards was Davidson Electronics in Plainview, NY. You might want to start there.

Just FYI to all- I have the master schematic transparencies for the ST2001, as well as the Studio 90, 90+ and others which use the same small PCB as the ST90, if needed.

Thanks, Chuck, that was very considerate. :-)
I have the same problem like you. I will changed the battery soon and after that it seems that I will need it.

I think I could need the master schematic transparencies fot the ST2001. I would really appreciate it if I could get them from you.

Hi, I own a StudioLogic 2001 since the '90s. As soon as I bought it, it stopped working. I had to remove the PCB, ship it to whoever it was that handled support back then, and they shipped me a new one, which I installed myself. It worked reliably thereafter.

Today, I turned it on and the blueish LCD screen backlight is gone. I'm starting dissasembly right now (maybe it'll be easy to fix), but I sure would like to have those transparencies you mention.

Can you post them or upload them? Are they suitable to be sent by mail?

                            Thank you.

It appears that the backlight may be dead.
After you take it apart, look for two wires that go to the LCD.
                              That should be the backlight.
If there is voltage across the two wires, then the backlight is caput.
There is a retailer, Backlights.com (I think. Google it) that may have a replacement.
