  • Kustom 200 parts identification

    I have a Kustom 200 in for repair and it's got a dead preamp board. I have identified most of the parts but there's some transistors that seem to have maybe Kustom inhouse numbers on them and I'm looking for some cross reference.

    FSE 4002 919
    FSE 4002 921
    FSE 4002 922

    I don't know if any of these are bad yet but I like to get my ducks in a row before digging in. Does anyone have a cross on these?

    Oh yeah... it's a PC303 board... anyone got a schematic/layout?

    I found my PC303 schematic/layout so I have that taken care of that at least.

      Use the search box, upper right on this page. Enter PC303. The bottom post on the list has the schematic. I looked no further.

      Schematic says all transistors are PET8002 or SE4002 unless noted. Yes, house numbers.

      I'd have to look in my records for more, but the circuit runs on +8 and -8, so any 25v or higher signal transistors ought to be fine.

      Most times you can check them for basic function with diode test on your meter while they are still in circuit.

      Dead board? Got both 8v rails to the board? See all those 1uf and 10uf and other small electrolytic caps in the signal path? I'd be planning to replace the lot of them most likely.

      The schematic is full of voltage references.

        Thanks for the tips Enzo, it's got rails... from the customer complaint it looks like he popped the input transistor by turning it on at full volume with a nasty brutish overdrive pedal pumping in a lot of current, but that's for tomorrow, right now it's time to get some shut eye

          Just an update on this amp, after signal tracing the front end it looks like signal is not passing Q302... one of those SE4002's I'm going to replace it with a 2N5088 and check things out again... I think that's it, funny though that's the 3rd transistor in the signal path and not the first as I originally had thought.
