Unit had no sound and blank LCD. I found the problem (330 ohm resistor) in PS. Unit worked, my drummer took it back and attempted to update firmware via compact flash, and now the unit will not boot (blank lcd).

He provided the flash card used, but it may not have been formatted (no Roland Folder). I think he just copied the file from Roland's site and added it. I tried a different card for giggles (I can't format one without a working SPDS) but they both read Errors after booting in card updater mode. Error 14 (his card) or Error 8 (new card).

He don't have the original firmware cd. I just need to re-flash this memory. Typical Roland making things a PITA

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

Sometimes it is impossible to restore the Flash and you need to replace the board with new one.

Sometimes Roland has a special program (per device), which can help to restore the Flash, but in this case you need to address to Roland official service.
