  • Peavey XR684 problem

I have a Peavey Xr684 powered mixer that I am having a problem with. The problem is that to get any kind of volume you have to turn the volume all the way up. I checked all the setting on the mixer and checked the microphones and speaker and everything is fined. Please help me with this problem.

try cleaning the power amp in jacks, insert jacks, etc. get a plug & push it in & out 10 or 20 times.
Sometimes there is a buildup of oxide on these connectors & the signal gets lost.....

There is a sticky note somewhere on this site about this.

And after that, isolate the problem. YOu have a bunch of patch jacks lower right. Use them. Plug a signal directly into the power amp in jack of each amp. Do they sound similarly weak? Or do they sound healthy? (You are bypassing all preamps that way.)

Likewise, if you put a signal into a channel, then you can connect the MAIN OUT jack to the input of some other amp and speaker. How does the mixer out sound over there? SOlid or weak like the problem?

Without me looking, that amp has a couple power amps, right? Are both affected the same? And if there is a power amap assign switch, does L/R act the same as monitor/mains?
