  • Coupling question

    http://www.ampix.org/albums/fenderam...a964_schem.pdf

I am building a small amp that pretty much uses the front end of this amp. The phase inverter, however, is a LTP.
So I am wondering about the best way to couple the last gain stage to the phase inverter. I am using a .022 cap, but do I need a Grid Leak resistor of some value.? The above schem shows a 1M, but it also seems to be part of some kind of voltage divider circuit.?
So anyway..... what components should I use to connect V1b to a LTP phase inverter.?
    Thank You

Your 0.022uf cap is coming from the output of your preamp. Doesn't much matter what the preamp is, your preamp signal is coming through that cap to the power amp. You want to make a LTP PI? FIne. COnnect that cap to it the same way the corresponding cap is connected in whatever circuit you stole the PI from.

Yes, all grids need a path to ground. There are many different types of circuit, but grids are not left to float. That doesn't mean you slap a resistor on just anything. In your example the grid finds a path to ground through the 1 meg AND the 56k. Your LTP does something similar, it just does it with two triodes.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

      Hey Enzo -
Lord help me... I am not the brightest guy in the world.
Some how, while looking at the Princeton Schem, I forgot the LTP I am going to use, is already set up with 1M Rg on each triode.
Typical example of "My reach exceeds my grasp".
The LTP has been functioning for decades, in thousands of amps. Why did I think there was something missing.?
Sorry to have wasted your time.....but I do appreciate your help.
      Thanks Again
