  • DDX3216 master PAN control failure

    Hi All,
I have a specific problem with an otherwise fairly modern and fully working DDX3216 desk - the mult-control on the master channel doesn't work. All other controls work on the other channels. There's no outward indication of any mechanical damage or trauma. The easiest way to see the problem is to press the "pan" button on the button pad, to select pan for the multi-controls. All channel controls work except the master channel. If the pan is varied using the screen knob, the leds move on the master control and the sound moves between speakers, so the pan function works; just not the control on the master channel.

Is this simply mechanical damage to the actuator, or is there some logic/electronic cause for this?

    Cheers

    Doug

OK, problem found and fixed - and it looks to be a manufacturing fault! This mixer is very "new", clean and according to original owner only used 4 times before being mothballed (I bought it in original box etc). So when I took it apart, all the horrible glue was still on the connectors etc, so it had never been apart.

The problem was the multi-way connector from the actuator board to the CTLR12 board - one of the connector pins was pushed out of the connector and hanging free! Simply pushing the connector pin back into the plastic housing and re-connecting the connector did the trick!

Anyone else seen such manufacturing faults?

I've no idea what the original owner thought the master actuator knob was for! :-)

      Nice find.
Gotta love all that hot melt glue!
