  • Are there any commercial amps that use passive radiators?

    Flipping through the Parts-Express web-site when I saw some passive radiators there. Started wondering if there were ever any commercial amps, whether guitar or bass, that had made use of a passive radiator to improve bass oomph.

    If you count me as commercial, I'm making one just now
    Not my original idea, although I think it will sound *very* good (otherwise wouldn't have accepted the job).
    My customer is a an Engineer who makes high end Hi Fi speaker systems, sold all over the World.

    He bought one of my Bass heads, but wondered about making a special cabinet for him, with 2 x 12" front firing Kevlar cone woofers (the yellow ones); 2x 12" side firing similar passive radiators, and 4 x 6" kevlar cone midrange drivers.
    I could have used his silk dome tweeters if I wanted to, but found them unnecessary, would have only supplied hiss.
    So I accepted and it's halfway made.
    Will post a couple pictures when ready.

      I never saw one in an instrument amp, but in PA cabs? Sure.
      Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
