  • Fenders new EVH 5150 amp

Well I wonder how Fender managed to get the 5150 logo? I wonder if Hartley is gonna sue? Maybe Ed has the patent? who knows...

I did hear a sound clip of the new amp and it sorta sounds like a SLO 100 but much smoother.

Guess I'm gonna have to venture into the local GC and try one

Any one else here tried this new amp?

The new EVH frankenstrat guitar is selling around 25K ? WTF...........

If I remember correctly Edward owns the rights to the name. Havent had the opportunity to hear it but am looking forward to it.

5150 is Eddie's logo, not Peavey's. It is a trademark, not a patent. WHen the agreement between Eddie and Peavey ran out, Eddie did not renew it, preferring to move on. I am not aware of any bad will, just moving on. That is why Peavey renamed the 5150 the 6505, and the 5150-2 the 6505+. The 5150 and 6505 are identical amps except for cosmetics.

PV celevrated their 40th anniversary 1965-2005, so that is why 6505.

Never heard one. But I've heard from a few folks who've tried out the new EVH amp and they like it a lot.

No way I'd pay $25k for a replica Franken-strat. Local guitar shop has one in a glass case in their showroom. It's nice, but not $25k nice. A few good photos and you could likely hire a decent builder to do you a one-off for a LOT less, and it might be something you wouldn't mind playing either. A $25k guitar is just going to sit in a display case for many, many years.
