  • Plain Enamel / formvar easy stripping

    Hello All

I just found a perfect way of enamel removal from pup wire. I recently bought a Mirka Deros 5650 sander (great sander very light, Expensive though. plug over) anyway thrown in with the sander were some Mirka abranet sanding discs. I folded a 400 grit disc over to get an edge and it work perfectly to remove the enamel. You have to tension the wire a bit but the abrasive disc is quite soft, it really worked a treat. I'd probably recommend 600 or finer, but the 400 I had worked fine, the grit is very sharp. I hope it helps.

    Cheers

I just solder it. But I have the iron set at about 650°F.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Mirka looks very interesting. Apparently their sanders are quite expensive, but just wonderful, based on the Amazon reviews of the Ceros orbital sander.

Anyway, a number of their kinds of sandpaper list paint stripping as a good use, and stripping magnet wire is just that.

Also, their "Mirlon" sanding pads look like they would work for stripping magnet wire.
