Ive been taking guitars apart and fixing since I was 13,14 yrs old. I have made a few pedals, torn the guts out of expensive guitars, usually rewire to vintage specs, some knowledge working on tube amps, replacing and biasing tubes, caps etc. Im 41 now, couple of months ago I started researching winding pickups, this may be the coolest thing I have made so far. I love it.

I tried to change it a while back but it was too much trouble. They can't be larger than 80x80 pixels or the upload fails without any reason given, and no auto-resize service offered. But since you asked nicely ... It's 79x67 to avoid the limit.

The real deal is when you model the molecular orbitals.

Hail the molecule! Good to see it back. When I started to lurk I thought "who would call themselves Salvarsan? You know what that stuff IS? Maybe this guy knows his chemistry & history besides." Well all that and much more, it's always a treat to see what you post Salvarsan.

Also thanks for the encomium. If I could find the right woman I'd get to work getting those kids started.

My Dad was a Country Doctor and I remember him still using Salvarsan in the 50's in some cases.

When kids (me included) typically scratched and bled knees when falling from bicycles, playing catch and hide, football, etc. he washed the wounds with water and soap, opened some small paper envelopes and sprinkled some flour like dust , then covered with bandages.

Much later, remembering that and after he explained me what it was, I asked him why he didn't use Penicillin, which was already available.

His answer was that "some people was allergic to Penicillin, he was very careful because of that, and for external use he'd rather use the tried and true "antiseptic dust" than anything swallowed or injected" .

Which I find very prudent and safe.

EDIT: in fact I guess Salvarsan and similar drugs will make a comeback, given that bacteria are getting resistant to antibiotics .

It started as an obscure joke, nothing to 'clap' about.

A net provider called STD.com was asking for a loathsome pun of a username, IMO. Penicillin was too obvious, azithromycin too obscure, but salvarsan was in the Goldilocks spot.

Salvarsan@std.com has been up for grabs for years but the joke lingered. Call me sentimental (or just mental), but my personal web site is salvarsan.org and has unexplained random pickup rubble at salvarsan.org/pickups.
