  • Vox super Lynx rewind

I search for Lynx on the forum and didn't come up with anything so I though I would post some pics in case anyone has to rewind one of these. The bobbin is glued into the case so the trick is removing it without any damage. I have an arbour press and even with slow and steady pressure on the magnets I caused some damage to the cover when it finally released. It seems there is a very strong glue between the top bobbin and pickup cover. Perhaps a little heat would have loosened things up. The bobbin itself is ridiculously small. Maybe 3/16 of meat to wind on. Apparently these pickups don't sound great and I was asked to wind this as hot as possible to bring out the midrange. I repaired the damage with some acetone and lots of buffing with micro mesh sandpaper. Click image for larger version

Nice save. Thats an odd ball pickup.

I hope you re-glued the crap out of it so if it ever fails the next poor bastard can have as much fun as you did fixing it
