  • Boss CE-3 LED wierdness

When I got this in the effect worked thru the DC jack but no LED, no effect no LED with the battery. Changed the battery
connector and the LED and effect work on the battery. THe effect still works on the DC jack but there is no LED.
Tried cleaning DC jack still no LED, changed jack still no LED.
    Any thoughts on this?

Any chance you changed DC supplies? Some of Boss pedals will work but no light if you don't use the exact specified supply.

      I tried it with a 1spot and and an ibanez AC109 9V 200mA and I have a boss PSA120T which is also 200mA.
It says on the unit to use the ACA 120 power supply. maybe this is the problem thanks.

Yes. You need adapt it to 9V. In the power supply circuit you must find a zener diode and a resistor (470 Ohms or similar) in series that must be bypassed..

The psa is 9V regulated, the ACA is more like 12V unregulated.
So you could either try a 12V, or bypass the diode & resistor like Pedro said.

I ran into a similar problem with a Behringer reverb pedal. I was using an old poorly regulated telephone 9v dc supply. I just put 3 small rectifier diodes in series on the positive side since I didn't want to go to the parts store and that's what I had laying around. It worked fine after dropping the voltage 1.8 volts or so.
