  • custom rectangular neos with alternative charge profile....

    Hiya,

I see rectangular neos, about 10mm x 5mm x 1mm (25⁄64" x 13⁄64" x 3⁄64" ...hehe old money, how the f*ck did that catch on!) - but here's the thing, most rectangular neos are charged so that the one of the largest rectangular sides is north & the other side south, but I need the magnets charged along their length (so one of the ends is north & the other south).

Any recommendations or other comments welcome!

been looking for rectangular shaped magnets myself, and would be happy with AL5 or AL8. something from .187" to .25" tall x .25" to .375" wide x .75" to .875" long

Here's the kind of thing I'm after...

      10pcs N42 Grade Strong Rectangular Neodymium Magnets 10mm x 5mm x 1mm | eBay

but they are always polarized/charged the wrong way, I want the polarity to be lengthways along the magnet (therefore North at one end, South at the other) ....*not* with opposing polarity on each large face.

I suspect neos don't take well to being charged that way but you could stack them in such a way as to get what you want IF they made 1mm x 1mm x 5mm.

Rod, have you called Shea at Magnetichold?

Actually, I think I've found some that have been charged the right way for my needs...

https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=B114 (not the right diemsions, but hey ho)

Shame they're USA based, I can predict my back passage being violated for postage.

not yet - it's on my list for the week, and would compliment an order I'm working up for .187" A5 rods
