  • 2sk1058/sj162 suitable replacements

I am looking for suitable replacements for use in a power amp (McGregor MA1300). It has had a couple of buz900p 's fitted previously as replacements for the 1058's but has now come in with 2 each side blown. Customer would like all replaced and a while ago I did a bit of browsing around and am sure I found IRF prefixed mosfets but after a clear out I have lost the 'safely' stowed note I made.
    Any ideas ?
In life there are no problems, only challenges but in my present situation I may have a problem

Forget the IRF ones, those are *switching* type, very different.
They can be used, in a circuit specially designed for them, but not in one made for Linear Mosfets such as yours.
Search for the BUZ or straight go to Profusion PLC , the original die maker for almost averybody, which also offers their own, encapsulated in metal or plastic.
They don't call theirs BUZ or 2SK/J but use a code which shows voltage and current, just search for original datasheets and then go for the equivalent or better Profusion one.
And they sell to the general public.
    Price is also quite reasonable.

Being lateral mosfets, there is a very limited choice.

One that has been bantered about is: Exicon ECX10N20 and ECX10P20 (available from Profusion PLC in the UK).
