  • EchoPlex EP3 Blown Resistor Smoke Show when powered on

Hey Guys, I have another setback with the EchoPlex EP3. I powered it up and a small amount of smoke puffed out.
On inspection I located a resistor that failed and broke in half. After looking at the schematics on line I am convinced that I can not determine what the correct value of the resistor is. I attached a few pics to help locate the part.
    Can anyone help.
    Thanks

22 ohms 1/2 watt. That is part of the solenoid power supply. It has burned rather dramatically, so before replacement you need to find out what component in the circuit cause it to burn.

There are only two things to check, the solenoid itself and the 20uF cap that is shown in your photo.

Edit: I wanted to add, that on this model the solenoid is powered directly from the 120 vac line, so care should be taken when working on this part of the circuit. Be sure to pull the plug before servicing it.

      Hello,

I realize this is a two year old thread but wanted to find out if the problem with the burned resistor on the echoplex was resolved? Mine is doing the exact thing and I have already replaced the b5g5 diode, 20uf 150v capacitor and the 22 ohm resistor. The resistor is still getting hot and smoking.

      Thanks!
