  • P90 Bobbin in a Dynasonic Cover

Hi, I'm unfamiliar with Dynasonics & a search didn't prove of much use. How is the bobbin held into the frame? I'm retrofitting a P90 into one and need to figure out how to secure the bobbin to the frame.

    Here's a pic of a newer one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Bobby,

The bobbin is held to the frame with some type of adhesive material.

      Thanks Jim!

Anyone else care to share some knowledge? I've seen a number of Kay pickups that are done up with wax, but didn't have open covers, so don't think that'd work here?

      Thanks.

          Thank you Jason.

Would electrical grade silicone adhesive be a good substitute? Or perhaps something else?

I re-wound a Dyna for my Gretsch a while back, and I think I just used a couple small beads of silicone caulk to hold the bobbin in the housing. It's been almost two years now with no issues, and that guitar gets used a lot. I would think hot glue could be used also. I don't know about vintage Dynas, but the newer ones have some kind of hot glue or epoxy type glue holding them together.

              Thanks, the silicone worked perfect.
