  • Visual Sound's Worhorse Pony 30W 112 amp

The five reviews I've read about Visual Sound's Workhorse Pony 30W 112 amp are impressive. The amp was first made around 2007 and is now discontinued.

I'm lookin to buy one and eBay has nada; the Visual Sound company seems to be limited now to pedals; their contact info is unavailable so far...tho there's another US company with the same name

Anyone know where I can find one of these amps?

    Thanks,

    Doug

Visual Sound changed the company name (and nothing else... ) to Truetone last year. You can find their contact info at truetone.com. It'll be tomorrow before I can call them to see if they know where a Pony is hidden. The guys at the office seem to want to take weekends off - the slugs!

The Workhorse line of amps was an experiment. Truetone (formerly Visual Sound) always made pedals and the 1Spot power supply and still does. The amps sold well, but when the company owner did the math, the company made more money on its investments making pedals and power supplies. I keep telling the owner that the Workhorse line was dramatically under priced. If they had been priced about $1000 more per amp, we'd not only have made a lot more money, we'd probably have sold more of them. Economics is not only a harsh mistress, she's flat-out crazy sometimes.
Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!

Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.

... and just out of curiousity, I googled workhorse pony amp craigslist and came up with this:
      tube amp need gone
It's been butcher... er, improved a bit. The owner apparently was one of those that didn't like the looks of the sound spreader "hubcap". But it might still be there - the ad was from Nov 10.
