This amp sounds louder and fatter in Brit mode than in US or AC mode. Can someone tell me if this is normal? It seems extreme...like there's a problem. It initially came in with the treble pot shorted center to outer lug. Makes me think it's possible one of the coupling caps in the treble circuitry may be open. I replaced the treble pot so that is fixed. Also the tone controls have very little effect in US/AC mode. Gonna check the caps but meantime if someone knows these amps well please do tell.

I think it's normal. The slope resistor is switched from 90k to 33k in Brit mode. The tone controls should work in the usual way in US or AC mode though.

Thanks for the schematic. I repaired one of these a while back and thought it biassed rather cold. I see the 6V6s have a common 510R cathode resistor. It measured about 11W at 5% THD.

Right on Dave. I'm still gonna check those caps cause it just seems VERY different on the other two settings.... although the Brit mode also bypasses all the treble caps as well so maybe it is normal. Hard to tell. I may need to go play a working one somewhere.
