  • Need help with my marshall mg100fx

    Hi all
So i just joined up as im needing your help.

I have a mg100fx and my master volume is playing up it crackles when turned and sometimes cuts out.
I did some research and bought some contact cleaner and took apart the head unit and cleaned the potentiometer, this didnt help. I bought a soldering iron and took it off and switched it with another potentiometers, still the master volume plays up.

So i know now its not the potentiometer.

But i have no idea what it could be

If you have any ideas please explain well as all this tech stuff is new and youtube has been my best friend in learning.

    Thanks guys

If you need photos let me know

      Hi

I would just replace all noisy pots, They don't always clean up well. Check all pots and jack sockets for soldring issues. Also check the jacks making sure they are not damaged around the switch-able contacts.

Hi, while you've got it in bits, check very carefully there are no PCB track breaks around where the jack sockets are soldered in. Very important to clean up jack socket contacts using switch cleaner and a plug pushed in and out a few times. Make sure switched conacts on the sockets actually do close when no jack is inserted. Hope that helps.
