Who here replaces ribbons? How are you locating and getting the correct tension before tightening the clamps? Any tips welcome.

Down below under "similar threads", überfuzz built his own, including the ribbon.
Not sure if he mentions tension, if not you could contact him.

I sat down and eventually got the hang of it. After trying a few techniques that I'd read I found a small artist's paintbrush, slightly moistened, to be the one I prefer. Clamp one end, a little saliva to stick the other end to the frame, and use the brush to pick up/re-position the ribbon. Then fit the other clamp.

Now, the only thing I need to do is find some more ribbon foil that isn't a ludicrous price in the UK.

        Mick,

How do you plan to corrugate the ribbon? What thickness are you using?

        Thanks

Mick as you are in the UK, Stewart at Xaudia is a helpful guy to contact about ribbons.

I'm using 0.8 micron, Corrugated in a simple machine using two Meccano gears and a crank. The corrugations work out fine - perhaps the easiest part. The damn stuff breaks/floats/catches/snags/sticks so easily. Pickup wire handles like Rebar by comparison.
