  • advice on new build

Hi everyone,I want to start a new build.I have a bogen chb100 chassis, and transformers.I am thinking of a 50 watt plxi clone, with master volume. The 18 watt(20 w/diode rec)looks intriguing.I am afraid the 50 watt may be to loud to get a good sound.I have played blackface, and allways felt that it was to muddy for my tastes.I like the jtm45 clean tones.I play blues, rock, church on sundays, and occaisional club gigs.So I need some power for gigs, but I guess I could run it through the pa.
The plexi clone looks relatively uncomplicated, and wont cost to much in parts and tubes. If I put a master volume on it I should be able to get some tone.
Now the build, should I buy a board or can I use terminal strips without too much hassle. The chb100 chassis is large for what I want to do.So room is'nt a problem.I have the heater wires intact,so I would just have to chnge sockets, run components to the strips,or should I do it right, and buy/biuld a board?
    Any comments would be appreciated,Clay

This hideous beast was my first build and is my prototype for trying new ideas and such.
A Bogen MO100 power amp turned into a JTM45 that can switch in an extra gain stage and has 2 switchable post phase inverter master volumes.
It sounds a heck of alot better than it looks, which is why I buy head boxes for my builds because I'm good with electronics, but am horrible with wood working!
